Hands

 (Original Photography)

On Tuesday I took this photo of Ellie's hands with my camera on my smartphone and when I got home I clicked on the photo again and played around with the filters, contrast, brightness and I am very pleased with the overall results.

(Edited photography)

Here is what I had come up with in the end and I have to say I am in love with how well the black and white look. I find the brightness of the hands very interesting.

This is the original photo I took of a close up of branches on a plant, I really quite like the effect the sun made when peeking through the branch at the front.
This photograph on the right is the edited version, which I am really happy with the results.

All I did to achieve this was;

  • changed the effect to B&W
  • boosted the contrast up
  • played around with the brightness, saturation, definition etc.
And voila! :)

During my private study today I decided to go on iPhoto and work on editing some of the photos I have taken in and around Town Yetholm.

With this photo I first of all changed it to black and white then I simply just boosted the contrast and brightness up a little bit, which I had asked Ellie for her opinion on. I really like the end results.

With this photograph I used the same technique as before and again I am pleased with the final look.

Bear photography

Today while it was a dull day outside I decided to grab my mums iPhone and take some photos around the house and played around with the effects a little bit. I quite liked the look of this ornament in the living room and changed the effect to 'instant' and enhanced it.

Raindrops

I was fiddling around on iPhoto with this particular photograph, to get what I achieved on the final photograph I changed the effect to black and white and just boosted the brightness and contrast a by and it was that simple really..with some helpful tips from John; another art student. I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Experimenting with iPhoto

Today in college we were told to go around about the campus grounds and take some photographs which we later looked at on the Macs and edited on iPhoto which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. I especially loved playing around with all the amazing things you can do to some simple photos and make them look somewhat different.

Here are what I came up with in the end...

Review of 'Tree Trunk on Yellow Ground' by Fernand Leger

On Monday 27th January 2014 everyone in the Art & Design course went up to see an
exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and we were told to write a review
about one of the pieces we saw at the exhibit. This one in particular is called 'Tree Trunk on Yellow Ground' by Fernand Leger which I was drawn to, the first thing that stood out at me was the bright colours obviously but I then looked at it more and saw what the meaning was behind it.

In 1943 fernand travelled to Montreal and on the way chanced upon an abandoned farm, close to the Canadian border. He was impressed by the broken farm machinery and junk piled up in the fields, he returned the following two summers to make a series of paintings. The motifs depicted here include a broken wheel, a road sign and wired mesh. The broken 'SLOW' road sign, coupled with the spoke of the broken wheel, can now be read as 'US LOVE'.
